The Canvas Project
While I sit here waiting for the vanish on my tiny canvases to dry, I thought I might write a little about the latest project I have involved myself in. The Canvas Project is organised by Art House Co-op, based in Brokklyn, NY.
Participants had a choice of two ways to get involved.
- Submitting random words to be used for the project, sound familar?
- Creating 3 artworks using provided canvases. The starting point being 3 words that were randomly sent to each of the participants.
I simply could not resist getting involved and as I am well and truly immersed in my 365wordgirl project, it seemed fitting to extended this project into the next.
The parcel must be postmarked by today and true to my usual self I am cutting the deadline close.
Here are some quick photos of the end results. As you can see I used this as an excuse to extend my 365 adventure. But it's also inspired my to paint more and rediscover some old directions in my artmaking.
Returning to The Base
On the 1st of March this year, I was part of the Spencer Tunnick Installation, The Base, which took place on the stairs of the Sydney Opera House. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever been part of. Unforgettable!! You can read the original blog post here .
It was so cold that morning, the first day of Autumn and wow! we felt it!. Today was the day to return to collect the special edition photo given only to the 5000 or so participants.
Here is the photograph Spencer Tunick chose out of all the many different shots he took.
And here is me today, on the steps holding my souvenir photo! Can't wait to get it framed
It's a pity that the sky was not as blue for the actual photo. Sydney Harbour and the Opera House look so beautiful when everything is glistening.
Speaking of Cardboard!
My friend Cheech has an entry in the Drambuie 'The Premise' competition.
Titled 'Young Pretenders' it's entirely constructed out of cardboard. Considering it's a pop-up bar concept, I think this is a pretty awesome take on the whole idea!! Good luck my dear!!

Out of the Box
Awesome Sneaker Sculptures by Jurjen Semeijn.
Amsterdam-based creative, Jurjen Semeijn destroyed the shoe boxes of the most recognizable sneakers and rebuilt them by putting the destroyed boxes back together in the form of Sneakers. Ingenius!
There is some cool stuff on his site too

As if I needed more reasons
I am currently saving for a trip to Paris...it may take a while, but i am hellbent on getting there sooner than later.
A few months ago I heard about a little shop in Paris called Merci...it sounded great, but now after seeing these beautiful photos by Jillian Leiboff I am well and truly enthralled. It is soooo my style. Relax, quirky and with unexpected details. I am going to need some serious spending money and a few empty suitcases!!
Via Diana! xx
My friend Diana posted this via Facebook the other day. So dreaming. Reminds me a little of Uno's Garden .

I’m back
Well at least on my blog...I had to move hosting and my blog totally crashed. I still have to iron out a few things on here, so let me know if there is a missing photo or any issues. I really missed my blog and was so busy and didn't have much time to fix the problem and I kept wanting to write about all the cool stuff I have been doing.
Quick list here (I will come back and write more about each one, this is merely so I don't forget ;] )
- Elle Girl Interview
- 365wordgirl
- Fbi Radio Interview
- Sketchbook Project
- Canvas Project
- Markets and Online sales
Black Tie Affair
I love when my creative avenues bleed into one another. A mock tuxedo bib I made for one of my 365wordgirl shoots is more than good enough to wear in real life.
Get it yours here, more colour combinations to come!!
What type are you?
Struggling to post these days. Need more time. Totally contradiction when you think about the fact that I had time just now to find out that I am Copper Black Italic. Go see what you are, it's fun. What type are you?
